Complete COSRX Advanced Snail Peptide Eye cream Review: Worth your money?

Cosrx Advanced Snail Peptide Eye cream quickly turned into a favorite by K-beauty lovers over the past couple of years. The brand itself is well-known among the skincare community, for its sensitive skin-friendly toners and one of the best sunscreens ever – the Cosrx Aloe Soothing Sun Cream.

I will admit, when it comes to eye creams, I am a little bit skeptical. Unless it is a really good eye cream with unique ingredients, I am not a hundred percent sold on the idea. The fact that you can use your moisturizer under your eyes is also a good reason not to get one. Also, many eye creams didn’t do good on my sensitive eye area, leaving my skin burning and stinging.

However, this Cosrx eye cream caught my eye (no pun intended) because two reasons: it has peptides, the total gamer changer in anti-aging, and snail mucin – a staple Korean star ingredient.

In this Cosrx eye cream review, I am breaking down everything you need to know. So, let’s dive in. I have sensitive, mostly dry undereye with a few wrinkles, so, keep that in mind.

Product claims by Cosrx Advanced Snail Peptide Eye cream

What is this Cosrx eye cream claiming to be? First and foremost, this eye cream claims to do a lot of things. Essentially, it is a non-heavy double-functioning eye cream that promises to hydrate, firm, and visibly brighten the eye area. While I mostly agree with the former two, the latter seems a bit more difficult than it seems.

The 73.7% of this eye cream contains snail secretion filtrate (aka snail mucin), a whopping five peptides, for anti-aging factor, and niacinamide, Vitamin B3 to achieve the brightening effect.

Best suited for:

It is suitable for all skin types, especially dry and dehydrated skin. Generally, if your under-eye area is dry and needs a moisture boost, this can work great for you. Also, if you are looking for an eye cream that won’t dry out the eye area while targeting fine lines and wrinkles.

Things to know:

Cosrx Advanced Snail Peptide Eye cream:

  • is cruelty-free
  • isn’t a vegan formula (hello, snail mucin)
  • works for the sensitive eye area
  • is alcohol-free
  • is fragrance-free
  • doesn’t have essential oils

Packaging & Scent

It comes in a plastic tube with a cap which I find to be practical. You have to pump out the product. Just like the Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence from this line, the tube has the signature yellow and black colors on white. Overall, I don’t have an issue with the packaging but for the price point, I think they could have included more product.

The package has only 25 ml of the product (wish it was 30) But hey, I guess eye creams always come in a smaller amount than your regular moisturizer. I guess this is the price we pay (literally) for the young-looking under eyes!

Scent

The fact that this eye cream is fragrance-free is great news! If you have a sensitive eye area like me, the struggle is real. Since adding fragrance to products doesn’t really do anything, I am happy that Cosrx went this way with this eye cream.

Application and Texture of Cosrx eye cream

This has a classic, white snail mucin texture. If you have used it before, you know that it has a silky, creamy texture. What’s interesting is that at first, the texture looks very thick. But once you apply it immediately gets absorbed. So, if you are worried that the consistency is a bit thick, don’t worry, it will blend into the skin quickly.

Long story short, you won’t experience an issue with the application of this Cosrx eye cream. It applies easily, doesn’t leave any residue, great for layering. It can definitely work as a primer under your concealer due to its moisturizing quality. Another thing about this product is that little goes a long way. I find that one layer of cream is more than enough. However, if you have an extra dry undereye area, go with two layers if necessary.

Ingredients of Cosrx Advanced Snail Peptide Eye cream

This is an ingredient list that screams moisture and anti-aging. As mentioned before the star ingredients are Snail Secretion Filtrate, The Five Peptides, and Niacinamide.

The full list of ingredients:

Snail Secretion Filtrate, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, 1,2-Hexanediol, Niacinamide, Water, Palmitic Acid, Arginine, Carbomer, Stearic Acid, Betaine, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Sodium Polyacrylate, Allantoin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Panthenol, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Sodium Hyaluronate, Adenosine, Xanthan Gum, Myristic Acid, Copper Tripeptide-1, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7

Snail Mucin – It is no stranger to Cosrx, as their Snail Mucin Essence and Advanced Snail Cream have been loved by so many. Also known as Snail Secretion Filtrate (SSF), this K-beauty staple ingredient is a moisture bomb. It actively promotes collagen production and targets wrinkles and fine lines. Studies also show that in addition to collagen production, snail mucin also helps improve even deeper wrinkles formed by UV rays even when administered orally.

Peptides – This eye cream packs five essential peptides: Copper Tripeptide-1, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7. Or the main reason why I purchased the Cosrx eye cream in the first place.

Just a quick reminder, peptides are short chains of amino acids that are building blocks of proteins – the famous collagen and elastin. They are the reason why the skin maintains its elasticity, and how you can get plump skin and a youthful look.

The former, Copper Tripeptide-1 also known as GHK-Cu, stimulates the production of skin-identical proteins like collagen and elastin. As you already know by now, these proteins are essential for healthy, glowing skin. What’s more, it also offers outstanding anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. And of course, the anti-wrinkle effect is there too.

Another peptide on the bunch – Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, also known as the Botox peptide, or Botox in a jar, is phenomenal for wrinkles and anti-aging. You might have come across this peptide with its industry name – Argireline. They don’t call it the Botox peptide for no reason, because shows great results for the most stubborn wrinkles like crow’s feet, or the 11s between your eyebrows. Just like other peptides, it increases the production of collagen and helps the skin retain moisture.

The peptide list goes on – Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 are two peptides that makeup Matrixyl 3000 that we have touted a lot here. The name Matrixyl 3000 is trademarked by the French company, Sederma. It is the first anti-aging ingredient developed by peptide technology. It has proved to be effective in preventing collagen breakdown, boosting elasticity, and improving the firmness of the skin.

Niacinamide – The skincare superstar, gentle and effective (especially for oily skin), vitamin B 3 is also packed into this eye cream. It is well-known that it boasts a bunch of goodies for the skin: oil control, hyperpigmentation, and skin brightening are just some of them. Niacinamide here works for brightening the under-eye area and helps with dark circles.

Hyaluronic acid – The universal humectant that binds water into the skin. It adds some extra level of hydration for the dry under eyes and has brightening benefits.

Allantoin – This ingredient doesn’t get the attention it deserves, but I am glad Cosrx decided to add it to this formula. It offers fantastic antioxidant and wound-healing properties for the skin. It is moisturizing too, which soothes and gives radiance to the skin. Also, totally safe for sensitive skin, including sensitive under-eye areas.

Overall impressions: Does Cosrx Advanced Snail Peptide Eye cream work?

To be honest, I am very impressed by the Cosrx Advanced Snail Peptide Eye cream. For a person who is skeptical about eye creams, this one stands out for a lot of reasons. I have been testing it for almost three months now (since August) and these are my impressions and results I got that I am sharing:

The moisture level is there: If you have a very dry under-eye area and you are confused as to what eye cream to use, look no further. Seriously, this might be the most moisturizing eye cream out there. At least, for me. The 73.7% snail mucin passes the moisture test! Once it is on your skin, you will notice that it takes some time for it to fully get absorbed. If you have used snail mucin before, you are more familiar with what I am talking about. It is very nourishing and lightweight at the same time, which I think is very rare for moisturizing products.

Anti-wrinkle effect: I have some tear-through wrinkles under my eyes that are somewhat visible, although I can see some new ones forming. Thank you, age 28, I guess.

So, I definitely noticed that it reduced the visibility of these wrinkles. Those peptides really outdid themselves. This is one of the reasons why I kept using the eye cream, to see if it can do more.

Puffiness and firmness: I don’t know how it is for you, but I experience under-eye puffiness almost every day. After using an eye cream at night, if I still experience some puffiness in the morning, I would reach for my eye patches to wake those eyes up.

Overall, I think the Cosrx eye cream did address it, perhaps not so dramatically. It also depends on how your under-eye area reacts. For some people, using an eye cream is enough, for some, like me, we need something extra to get where we want. The firmness factor is definitely there, and I can see how it can be effective.

Ideal for sensitive eyes: I am super psyched to report that the Cosrx eye cream is perfect for sensitive eyes. It didn’t leave a burning or stinging sensation under my eyes, so if you have sensitive skin, no worries! Also, it is fragrance and alcohol-free.

Little goes a long way: Love the texture of the eye cream. It has a perfect balance of nourishment and lightness. Because the packaging was smaller than I expected, I thought I was going to run out of it soon. You don’t have to use a big amount unless you need some layering for skin with extra dryness.

As for the brightening effect that the product claims due to Niacinamide, I don’t have much to report on. I don’t have visible discoloration under my eyes, except for some redness sometimes. If you have dark circles around your eyes, I am not sure this is the best product to work with. However, it will target the wrinkles like a pro and will provide you with enough moisture. Although the ingredients used here are great, maybe trying out eye creams with caffeine, Vitamin C, Retinol, or Kojic acid might be more beneficial.

How to use Cosrx Advanced Snail Peptide Eye cream?

You can use it in your PM or AM routine. I feel like eye creams work best in the evening, so you can wake up with refreshed and renewed eyes. Plus, I felt like there would be less puffiness in the morning once you put it on the night before.

Use it as a primer for concealer: because this peptide eye cream is very moisturizing, it makes a great pair with a concealer. Most of the time concealers are very drying, so make sure that you moisturize very well underneath.

Use multiple layers: I didn’t experience any pilling or other issues with layering this eye cream. Although using one layer was more than enough on normal days when my undereye experiences extra dryness, I amped up the layering and it worked just as well.

Slather it on your face too! Seriously though. I am an avid user of moisturizers under the eyes. What goes to your under eyes can go to your face too, and vice versa. If eye cream helps improve wrinkles under your eyes, it will do the same on your face too.

Final Verdict

Yes, you made it! We are finally done with the COSRX advanced snail peptide eye cream review.

One thing is for sure: Eye creams need to be moisturizing, hydrating, and they should address puffiness, under eye bags. In my opinion, given all of the above, this Cosrx eye cream is worth your money and a spot on your skincare shelf. I’d definitely repurchase this if I am not too distracted by other new eye creams coming up LOL.
